Home learning bags

Staff The staff at West End Pre-School are passionate about working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that your child has a positive early years learning experience. Part of this is to foster links between Pre-School and home as it helps the children to feel more settled and secure.

We have decided to create home learning bags.  We will provide bags containing prompts and information  to support you in your parenting role supporting your child’s learning and development.  Some of the bags will enable you to bring a little bit of Pre-School into your home to help your children to become familiar with the things that they may experience at pre-school, such as cups, snack time and new  activities. There will also be home learning bags to support children through those emotional and development stages such as the arrival of a new sibling, ditching the dummy or potty training.

These bags will have some tips and stories to use to help explore the new experience with your child. There will also be home learning bags that contain resources to encourage particular activities such as Boogie Mites, baking and sharing books. Bags may contain song books, CD’s, age appropriate resources and photographs. Other bags may contain story sacks that can be used to support children’s literacy and language. Story sack ideas can be found at http://www.earlyyearscareers.com/eyc/learning-and-development/5-great-story-sack-ideas.
